Ringlet (Aphantopus hyperantus) butterfly Nottinghamshire

Last weekend I saw the Ringlet butterfly for the first time in the Welbec estate, but couldn’t get a picture.  This weekend I was cycling between Clumber Park and Welbec House on the Clumber rd to Rufford Park and all along the side of the roads were the Ringlet butterfly.  There were 100’s if not thousands.   It was so easy to get a picture this time, but the hedges were much shorter than the growth in the Welbec estate.

The Ringlet butterfly is quite common and you can see the distinctive circle on the wings, with the yellow markings, that make it look like a tear.

All the best
