I decided to cycle to Sheffield Rd today and take some pictures, before more key land marks of the steel industry disappear. I managed to take a picture of the Temple public house, which looks in a better state than I remember it, but is now closed.
At one bit this pub used to be packed with steel workers, who used to work in the biggest melting shop in the world, called S.P.E.A.R. It had 6 electric arc furnaces in its hey day. Prior to that it had 14 open hearth furnaces.
All the best
