The Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus), sometimes called the Hedge Brown, Anston, Sheffield

It’s a lovely sunny today in Anston Sheffield today and the Gatekeeper butterfly has appeared like it does very year.  One of my favourite butterflies.  According to wiki it is usually based in the South East, but I see it very year and it is so easy to distinguish.

50% of the Butterflies in the UK are supposed to exist in Anston stones, but I haven’t gotten to 10 species of butterflies this year.  I will keep on trying.  It’s been a fantastic summer this year in the UK.
