Sheffield F.C.’s move back/return to Olive Grove in the heart of the City of Sheffield the Spiritual birth of modern day football and photographs

I decided to go along and locate the birth place of modern day football where Sheffield F.C. are going back to.   At the moment there isn’t a lot to see, I managed to take three pictures from the front and one from the rear.  It is one of the worst cricket and football grounds I have ever seen.

About 5 years ago Sheffield where looking to relocate back to this Olive Grove ground where they were first founded and the modern day football rules started, they were going to build a 10K stadium.  I think this move was linked to the world cup bid that England failed to win.

If you go to Bramall Lane, get onto Shoreham St and then follow Charlotte St, that will bring you up to Olive Grove Rd, then follow Heeley bank rd up to Sheffield Works Dept Sports and Social club.

Sheffield are the oldest football club in the world and date back to 1853

Sheffield F.C. are now trying to raise funds to relocate back to Olive grove and you can donate here www.sheffieldfc.com

Their first stage of the relocation is resolving issues with the pitch, they will then look at adding floodlights, dressing rooms, stands, museum etc.

I have paid £20 into their relocation fund, which allow me to attend their first match back at their new Olive rd ground.

All the best

Tim
