My family moved to Anston in 1966, in those days it was a beautiful country village, before it was destroyed by building housing estates every where. We came to live on the Oval and as we left Nursery Rd, there was a farm call Hen Eggs farm, as we came off the main rd onto the Oval. The farmer farmed eggs and pigs, We were woke up every morning by the sound of cockerel’s.
All that remains of the farm, is the farm house, which you can see in this picture. Sunny side close was built on the remainder of the farm. Since 1966 Anston has lost about 10 farms.
All the best
