Major Oak Sherwood Forest Robin Hood Photograph

Photography Anston, Dinnington, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and UK

Close to Edwinstowe you will find the Sherwood Forest visitors centre.  Within there you will find the Major Oak, renowned to be the tree Robin Hood hid in.  I would take these tales with a pinch of salt, I believe there were many different Robin Hoods who existed.   When I was a child in the 1960’s you could cue to get in the tree, now a days, the tree is fenced off and has supports.

The tree was used to store cocks for cock fighting.

There are some lovely coffee and cake shops to try in Edwinstowe itself.

All the best
