Throapham Manor avenue of trees Photograph

Photography Anston, Dinnington, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and UK

I used to run out of this avenue of trees from the Comprehensive school behind onto the road and back around to the school, I doubt H&S would allow this now.   This was the last leg of our weekly cross country run and was responsible for me doing the Nottingham and Sheffield full Marathons, by the time I was 21.  I didn’t really have time to think about the historical significance of this when doing cross country runs.

This avenue of trees lead to Throapham Manor that no longer exists, but was part of the hamlet and Parish of Throapham, which must have been situated close or in Dinnington Comprehensive school grounds.  I would really love to be able to travel back in time and see it as it was.  Looking at the avenue of trees it must have been an impressive building.
