Throapham St Johns church photograph

Photography Anston, Dinnington, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and UK

I always though Laughton had two church’s, but recently found out that St John’s was part of the Parish of Throapham that extended as far as Firbeck and Letwell.   I suspect that the church was built a little away from the hamlet, because it was built next to a well, where an old Pagan Celtic worship site existed.

At one bit there used to be a Manor house and hamlet of 50 people or more at Throapham.   I have also added a picture of a stone used for foot scraping, it is an old grave stone and looks like Celtic art work is on it.
