Cross’s Folly Bakewell photograph.

Photography Anston, Dinnington, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and UK

This monument was provided by a Robert Cross, to mark piped water being provided to Bakewell during the 19th century.  Robert Cross lived at Milford house and was a pillar of the community.   Robert Cross came from Milford and made his money in cotton.

It looks like the monument has drinking fountains around it.

The information was provided by Bakewell Tourist board, as I could find nothing about the monument on the internet.

Thanks giving monument Thanks giving monument

All the best
