Jordan Rhodes signs for Sheffield Wednesday

Probably the worst kept secret.  Signing on loan until the end of the season and then an undisclosed fee will be paid. Hopefully, there isn’t too much pressure on him from the Wednesday supporters, but he should feel comfortable at the club, bearing in mind family connections and feeling more at home.  Hopefully, his presence will take the pressure off other Wednesday players enabling them to score.   This is his scoring record.

Years Team Apps (Gls)
2007–2009 Ipswich Town 10 (1)
2007 Oxford United (Loan) 4 (0)
2008 Rochdale (loan) 5 (2)
2009 Brentford  (loan) 14 (7)
2009–2012 Huddersfield Town 124 (73)
2012–2016 Blackburn rovers 159 (82)
2016– Middlesborough 24 (6)
National team
2011–2012 Scotland U21 8 (8)
2011– Scotalnd 13 (3)

It looks like Chansiri is determined to get promotion this season. It’s highly unlikely Wednesday will get up in an automatic promotion spot. But Wednesday need the fire power, if they are going to win the Playoff final.

Jordans Rhodes signing will be very cheap. If this releases the £100 million a season that the Premier division brings to the club. Hopefully, Wednesday will play with more width and start scoring more frequently and raise the confidence at the club, ready for a playoff final.

However, at the back of mind are great reservations about Carlos Carvahal remaining as Sheffield Wednesday manager.  A mantra I have been repeating for some time.

All the best
